What is FRT Digital's AIO Score?
How the proprietary metric works that measures a site's readiness to be cited by generative AIs
FRT Digital's AIO Score is a 0 to 100 rating that measures a site's readiness to be cited by generative AIs like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overview. The metric evaluates four dimensions: AI crawlability, structured data implementation, content quality and citability, and entity authority. A score below 40 indicates critical issues blocking indexing; between 40 and 70, there are significant untapped opportunities; above 70, the site has a solid foundation for an advanced AIO strategy.
What the AIO Score measures in each dimension
Dimension 1 — AI crawlability (weight 25%):
Verifies whether the main AI crawlers can access the site. Evaluates: robots.txt (BingBot, GPTBot, and PerplexityBot allowed), updated sitemap.xml submitted to Bing, confirmed indexing in Bing Webmaster Tools, and absence of blocks from heavy JavaScript or URL parameters.
Dimension 2 — Structured data (weight 25%):
Assesses Schema.org implementation on main pages. Scores the presence of: Organization with name, url, logo, description, and sameAs; Service for each service offered; FAQPage on high-query-volume pages; and Article with author and datePublished on blog posts.
Dimension 3 — Content citability (weight 30%):
Analyzes whether existing content has the format AIs prefer to cite. Evaluates: articles with direct answers in the first paragraph, headings as questions (H2/H3), at least one verifiable data point per article, structured FAQ, and absence of exclusively promotional content without informational substance.
Dimension 4 — Entity authority (weight 20%):
Measures the company's presence in the web ecosystem outside its own site. Evaluates: mentions in media portals and sector publications, NAP consistency (name, address, phone) across main platforms, Google Business profile, presence in relevant sector directories, and when applicable, a Wikipedia article.
How the AIO Score is calculated
Each dimension is scored from 0 to 100, with objective and verifiable criteria. The final score is the weighted average of the four dimensions. The audit that generates the score includes a detailed list of verified items, the score on each criterion, and recommendations prioritized by expected impact.
How to use the AIO Score to prioritize actions
The score serves as a priority map. Dimensions with lower scores indicate where the greatest potential gains are. In general, crawlability issues have maximum priority (they block any results), followed by structured data (citation multiplier) and content citability (larger volume of work, but proportional impact).
