What is the difference between FRT's AIO Score and other AI metrics?

FRT Digital's AIO Score measures the structural readiness of a site to be cited by generative AIs — it's a capability metric, not a result metric. Tools like Semrush AI Toolkit, Brandwatch Generative AI Insights, and Rankscale measure existing mentions — they're result metrics. The difference is analogous to a technical SEO audit (measures what the site can do) versus a Google rankings report (measures what the site is already doing).

What the AIO Score measures and what it doesn't

The AIO Score evaluates four technical and content dimensions: AI crawler crawlability, structured data implementation, existing content citability, and entity authority. The score ranges from 0 to 100 and indicates where the blockers are that prevent the site from being cited.

The AIO Score does not measure how many times the company is already cited in AI tools. For that, manual tests or specific AI mention monitoring tools are needed.

Tools that measure AI mentions

Some platforms began offering AI citation monitoring from 2024-2025:

  • Semrush AI Toolkit: tracks brand visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini responses for queries configured by the user
  • Rankscale: specialized in AIO, offers AI share of voice monitoring and competitor comparisons
  • Brandwatch Generative AI: monitors brand mentions in AI responses at scale, aimed at companies with large volumes of queries to monitor

These tools measure the result — whether the company is being cited. FRT's AIO Score measures the potential — whether the site is structured to be cited.

When to use each type of metric

AIO Score (capability): use at the start of an AIO project, to prioritize technical and content implementations, and periodically to measure infrastructure evolution.

Mention monitoring tools (result): use to track the impact of implemented actions, compare share of voice with competitors, and identify which queries the company already appears in.
